HITTING THE TWEET SPOT

HITTING THE TWEET SPOT

Interesting article in Friday’s Metro when it comes to Twitter. A report carried out in the US states that only 36% of the tweets we receive are of any interest to us. Personally I find that result quite high, 25% would have been more realistic. Using information from 1500 users, those who carried out the survey came up with nine ways to make people respond better to your tweets and make you a better tweeter. Check them out below:

·      Old news is no news, don’t repeat links that have been around the block already.

·      Contribute to a story rather than just comment on it, add your opinion

·      Keep it short and sweet, 140 characters can be too long

·      Don’t overuse hashtags

·      Don’t feel the need to tell everyone your every move, some things are best left unsaid

·      Don’t just link to blog of picky, explain why it might be of interest

·      Don’t bitch, whine, complain – people are not entertained by that

·      Tease folks – don’t tell the whole story in a tweet

·      Celebs – come join the party as you are a lot more interesting than non-celebs

Who would have thought there would be etiquette involved when typing 140 characters?
