Beautiful Creatures

First up this week is Beautiful Creatures, a fantasy drama in which a teenage boy, bored in his small Southern hometown, meets a mysterious new girl. As they get to know each other, they begin to uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. This is adapted from the Caster Chronicles series of books and is the newest attempt to turn a young adult series into a Twi-like movie franchise. Stars Alden Ehrenreich, Alice Englert, Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum, Thomas Mann and Emma Thompson.

Up next is the latest instalment of the Die Hard series, A Good Day to Die Hard. Here, McClane travels to Russia to help out his seemingly wayward son, only to discover that Jack is a CIA operative working to prevent a nuclear-weapons heist being pulled by a high-end terrorist group. Stars Bruce Willis, Jai Courtney and Sebastian Koch.

Also out is This Is 40, the newest comedy from Judd Apatow and the “sort-of sequel to Knocked Up”. This time, we follow Pete and Debbie, played by Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann, as they look at their lives as a middle-aged married couple and where they go from there.

For re-releases this week, we have a Baz Luhrmann double… 1996’s Romeo + Juliet and 2001’s Moulin Rouge! The former is an updated retelling of William Shakespeare’s classic romantic tragedy of the star-crossed lovers, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes; the latter is a sweeping musical romance, about a poet who falls for a beautiful courtesan in the world famous Parisian dance house, starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman.

Murder 3 is a Hindi thriller in which a young woman meets and falls in love with a famous photographer. She soon moves in with him in his large home, but soon starts to find her surroundings somewhat troubling as she begins uncover secrets of the house and the man and the fate of his previous girlfriend.

Run for Your Wife is a British comedy about 24 hours in the life of a man secretly married to two different women, whose world looks to become undone when his attempt at heroism bring his life under scrutiny of police and his wives. Stars Danny Dyer, Denise Van Outen, Sarah Harding and Neil Morrissey.

Finally, Young, High and Dead is a horror thriller about a camping trip that quickly descends into chaos when a group of friends unknowingly pitch their tent next to the grave of a local missing child.
