So it seems come August, Scottish rock band BIFFY CLYRO will be joining EMINEM in headlining the main stage at Reading and Leeds festivals. The news was announced yesterday on BBC Radio 1 after a massive build up from DJ Zane Lowe. Seconds after the huge announcement, fans took to Twitter to express their glee, and in rare cases horror, at the prime-time announcement. Mostly though, it was smiles all round for festival goers and as if Biffy weren't enough, moments later it was unveiled that SYSTEM OF A DOWN will also be joining the line up. The rock band will for certain be forcing walls of death and fists in the air at the Summer festival, satisfying more potential ticket buyers and broadening the festivals horizons.
And speaking of horizons, screamo band BRING ME THE HORIZON were also added to the festival earlier. Although they will presumably not be joining Deftones and Eminem on the main stage, they will definitely be raising hell in a rock-orientated tent. The NME/Radio 1 stage also gained a big name tonight in the form of young, indie star JAKE BUGG. The singer famous for "Lightning Bolt" is sure to be a hit in the smaller tent, especially with younger audiences. Another moment later, it was also announced that FOALS will be playing the three-day festival, on the main stage too (as confirmed by Zane Lowe). With new music being released this year, excitement will be in the air at Reading and Leeds as fans anticipate hearing some new material from the band.
However the best was definitely saved till last, with the announcement that FALL OUT BOY will be playing a set. The news was kindly received as Twitter exploded with appreciation for the newly reformed band. Everyone is surely in the mood for another announcement; although festival orgasnizers have yet to announce when that will be. One things for certain, Reading and Leeds festivals will be the place to be this summer!
