Hard to ignore the sporting events that have gone on over the last few days, so thought it best to put them all in one post as opposed to multiple posts. First off, John Terry was stripped of his England arm band on Friday due to his pending legal battle. Terry is charged with a public order offence, stemming from alleged racist remarks against Anton Ferdinand last year.
This is the second time Terry has been stripped of the arm band and when you look at the rap sheets these footballers have, it is very hard to even consider who might take Terry’s place as Captain of the national side, with the Euro 12 tournament looming.
When it comes to rugby, interim England manager, Stuart Lancaster, put all the doubters and media in their place on Saturday at Murrayfield. His youthful team picked up the Calcutta cup as the Six Nations got under way, beating Scotland 6-13. Although not all good for Lancaster as he had to have stitches on his fingers having smashed them into the roof of the coaches box in celebration when a try was scored.
Across the pond, the biggest event in American sport took place yesterday with the NY Giants beating the New England Patriots 21- 17 in Superbowl XL VI. The game which attracts an audience of millions around the world was said to be as exciting as the Man United Chelsea clash yesterday which ended in a 3-3 draw. Great result for the Giants and Eli Manning who played a fantastic game and grabbed the MVP Award as well.
